Tonights class was great. I really enjoyed the lecture from the speaker from ISU. She brought together a lot of things that we have been covering in the course. I really liked the framework that she creaed for CALL and how it was divided by proficiency according to teachers. I think that would be an interesing thing to compare with the TESOL standards. What do you all think?
I'm excited to be done with the final project. One more week of observing and the final interview. I can't wait to see the conclusions I make. I think it will be interesting to see the final work done by Esther and Dr. Bibbee. I wonder when the final product will be published?
Yes, like you, I also enjoyed this meeting though I struggled with my microphone. I think it's great to see teachers from another institution to share knowledge with students sometimes so that the latter have a chance to learn and compare what they have learned.
ReplyDeleteI noticed you made a good point in comparing users' CALL proficiency level with TESOL techno standards that I will definitely specify in my APP under my contexts of use.
That's a very good idea comparing the framework to the TESOL standards!!
ReplyDeleteI am also interested to see our results. I hope they will keep us posted on the final product!!
I think it would be great to make suck a comparison as well. I think that is a very good idea! Unfortunately, the presenter is making it difficult to access her information in the simple chart she provided.
ReplyDeleteAlso, and not to run on a cynical streak, but I get the sense that this is a double-blind study, and it will be some time before we see the full results of the study.
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a way you could inject some of your enthusiasm into my attitude. At this point I'm just feeling pretty much overwhelmed with assignments for this class as well as the research studies class... deep breathing, right? One foot in front of the other... Christmas will be here before we know it...
ReplyDeleteKaren, this is for you:
ReplyDelete"How do you eat an elephant?"
One bite at a time.
You'll all do fine.
As for the study, I anticipate that it will take a while. Perhaps data analysis in Spring and Summer and writing after that.
Interesting comments by all! Karen, I was overwheled a couple of weeks ago and I am finding that if I focus on small goals each day that I will be making steady progress. James, interesting thoughts about the study. It would be nice to know more information on it.
